Meet Andrew Williams

Andrew has worked in higher education for over fifteen years. After receiving his BA in cultural anthropology from Earlham College, Andrew attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor to work on a PhD in cultural anthropology. His fieldwork focused on issues of race and ethnicity in the Dominican Republic.

Andrew then went on to serve as an instructor of Sociology-Anthropology and Head of Black Studies at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. Following his time at DePauw, Andrew joined the Posse Foundation as Director of this college-scholarship program’s Chicago office. More recently, Andrew has served as Director of Multicultural Affairs at Carleton College and Assistant Director of the Multicultural Center for Academic Excellence at the University of Minnesota.

Andrew has done international development work in the Dominican Republic related to population and environmental dynamics and led college service-learning programs to Nicaragua and Botswana. Andrew also works as a diversity and intercultural consultant and is currently doing work with the Roseville and Osseo School Districts in the Twin Cities Metro Area.  In line with these professional interests, Andrew is completing a PhD in Comparative and International Development Education at the University of Minnesota.
