Meet Tanetha Grosland
I grew up in Tampa thinking that I wanted to work in politics (via political campaigns, government, or legislative work). After working in Washington D.C. and Saint Paul for Members of Congress, I decided that I wanted to have a greater impact on people's lives. Although I wanted to go to law school, my friend (now husband) talked me into going into education. He enjoyed the work of educators and thought maybe that was something I would enjoy too. He was correct. I worked in Elgin, Illinois then in North Saint Paul as a school teacher. After doing that for a few years, I decided that I wanted to teach adults. So I taught teachers for a few years. Soon after, I decided to go back and get my doctorate in education and was fortunate to be offered this opportunity to teach students in CLA. I enjoy teaching in CLA because my passion is still in politics and is why I am focused on the politics of race for my studies. Most importantly, I enjoy working with students who have a passion for social issues.
