Degree Requirements

Liberal Education requirements
Every student at the U of M needs to complete a basic set of general requirements, called Liberal Education requirements. To find a listing of what you'll need to take to fulfill your Liberal Education requirements, check this out!

Second language requirement
The second language requirement is a CLA specific requirement. To find out how many semesters you'll need and what languages are offered, take a look at this section.

CLA Major and minor information and requirements
You'll need to declare a major by the time you have completed 60 semester credits, which for most students is at the end of their sophomore year.

Basic degree requirements
Check out a basic outline of credits and requirements needed for a typical B.A. degree (around 90 percent CLA students graduate with a B.A.).
